June 11, 2016 was the first of two weddings I attended last month. Two amazing people saying “I do” surrounded by their friends and family, followed by a delicious taco bar and dancing. The decor was simple but beautiful transforming a dull boring hall into a beautiful backdrop for the celebration to continue into the night. Lace, baby’s breath, twinkle lights, mason jars, handmade wood signs and a photo backdrop completed this wedding decor. Continue reading “‘Our Story’ Wedding Gifts A+M and B+A”
I love my Mom! I love spending time with my Mom, baking or cooking or shopping or just chatting. My mom is such a hard working woman, at her job and around her home, always with a project or task on the go. And she doesn’t stop until the job is done. She is also learning new things, like hunting, chick hatching and beekeeping to name a few. She’s been a stay-at-home Mom, worked on a farm, owned a convenient store and worked at several different jobs throughout her life time so far. My Mom’s tough, she’s been knocked down a few times in life (including recently a hip replacement surgery) but she keeps on going! I’ve learned so much from my Mom that I hope to pass on to my own kids someday. I’m so proud and honoured to call this amazing lady my Mom and my friend! I love you Mom!
For this years C3 Church Edmonton ‘EveryWoman’ Conference I wanted to make the gift bags that all the lovely ladies got to take home even better than last year. The theme for the conference this year was ‘Confident & Free’ and the verse was Ephesians 3:12 “In him and through him we may approach God with freedom and confidence.” Continue reading “C3E ‘Confident & Free’ Womans Conference DIY Notebooks”
A friend of mine is getting married this month!! Yahhh, not only do I love weddings in general but I’m especially excited for this beautiful lady because the long journey she’s been on to get here. And not just finding a awesome guy to marry. Although that is part of it. Her journey has included everything from spiritual, physical, relational and personal. She always has an encouraging word and a smile for you. I believe her story will impact a lot of different people in different ways.
At the end of November last year, two of the most awesome people got married! I was so excited for these two love birds to tie the knot! I remember praying with the groom (in our Life Group) for his future bride, and then not too long after he met her, and she was everything on his list!
To make a floor pillow for a birthday gift, I thought instead of buying fabric and starting from scratch I would upcycle a old comforter or blanket. So I went to Goodwill in search of the perfect blanket for a little boy. I didn’t find a blanket but what I did find was an Oilers snuggie! While it wasn’t big enough to make the whole pillow, the Oilers logo made for a perfect front of the pillow and I picked up some fleecy fabric for the back. Continue reading “Oilers Floor Pillow”
A friend of mine (who just got married at the end of Nov!!) was cleaning out her place in getting ready for her future husband to move in his belongings and she was getting rid of a white ottoman bench she had been using as a coffee table in her living room. So I took it off her hands with the intention of recovering it. Continue reading “Recovered Ottoman Bench”
For a friends wedding this past summer I bought this shadow box picture frame from Michaels to decorate for a wedding gift. This couple has an adorable little girl, who was also the cutest little flower girl, so I wanted to incorporate the word ‘Family’ into the picture frame. I also used a flower from their centerpieces, the ribbon off the wedding favour and I used the wedding invitation for inspiration for the colours used to finish off the picture frame. Last and final part to the baby shower projects and I saved the best for last, the gift! (In case you missed Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3…) Of course I couldn’t make all these cute projects for the baby shower and not make something fabulous for my gift! I went with my friend when she registered for the shower and she was able to scan most of the items she was looking for but was unable to find a cute lamp. We were talking about how the lamp didn’t even need to be ‘baby’ themed, just girly. Which is almost better anyway then she can have it in her room for longer and won’t ‘out grow’ it as fast. So I made a little trip to Value Village to see if I could find anything that might work. Continue reading “Baby Shower & Baby Shower Decor Projects Part 4”
Another really simple baby shower décor project is to incorporate the babies name into the decorations. I love decorations that can look cute at the shower but then Mom can take home and use as decoration in the nursery (like the pink picture frames in Part 1). One idea is to make your own wooden baby name blocks, like here or here. I decided to make my own letters by printing off a stencil from my computer to use on scrap cardboard and covering in patterned scrapbook paper. Originally I was going to make little triangle ‘stands’ to attach to the back of the letters however I wasn’t liking how that was turning out. Last minute I decided that these letters would look adorable against an antique barn board (that I had leftover from this project). Add a picture hanger to the back and it makes a perfect little nursery décor that can be hung on babies door or wall or leaned in a bookshelf!
