Spring Vibes VoxBox

Unboxing & Review

Today I’m doing a little unboxing & review for my Spring Vibes VoxBox that was sent to me by Influenster. Have you guys heard of Influenster? (Insta: InfluensterCanada and Influenster) They’re a website for product discovery and reviews in all kinds of categories, from Beauty and Health to Food and Home (and that’s just to name a few categories). They also send out products for review. This Spring Vibes VoxBox was sent to me complimentary for review purposes, however all opinions are my own.

The Spring box was a lovely mix of beauty, food and home. Continue reading “Cdn Spring Vibes VoxBox Unboxing & Review”

Butternut Squash, Ginger, Carrot Soup

We were pretty spoiled this year, Oct was beautiful, even had some highs in the 20’s and the snow didn’t stick around until November 8! Trust me, in Alberta, Canada that’s kind of a big deal! lol. Now that we’re almost into the new year that means winter is here to stay for awhile! Christmas is over and January is the perfect month to try out some new, healthy yummy soup and crockpot meals. (Look out for some recipes I’ll be trying out in the new year.)

I love making homemade soups and it can be so simple! And inexpensive compared to buying pre-made soup from the store. Not to mention healthier as well! I had a craving for a delicious creamy butternut squash soup the other day when I was picking up a couple things from the store. I looked at this butternut squash soup and it would have been more convenient to buy and warm up when I got home. But at $6-7 for a small package of soup I just thought I could make way more (for less money) if I made it from scratch! Plus then I would have extra to freeze.  Continue reading “Butternut Squash, Ginger, Carrot Soup”

German Chocolate Cake Pops with a Chocolate Ganache Filling

Cake pops are one of the newest trends in deserts. The first time I ‘saw’ a cake pop was on a cool little blog I came across called Bakerella. She has made the cutest and most creative cake pops using boxed cake mix, frosting and candy melts. This method is ideal for making different shapes of cake pops like here or here. But to make round cake pops I prefer using my cake pop baking pan and making a recipe from scratch. I got mine from Bed Bath and Beyond (you can find a similar one here) For a friends baby shower I found a recipe for a German Chocolate Cake with a Chocolate Ganache Icing that I thought would make a perfect little cake pop! (You can check out the DIY decorations and gift from that baby shower here, here, here and here!)  Continue reading “German Chocolate Cake Pops with a Chocolate Ganache Filling”

Date Filled Oatmeal Cookies

I remember going to visit my grandma and one of the first things we would do is raid the freezer for baked goods. They were the best when still slightly frozen. This was one of my favorites that my Grandma made. Well that and butter tarts and date squares and…  Continue reading “Date Filled Oatmeal Cookies”

Christmas Meringue Bites

As many people who know me are aware, I love Christmas! I love the decorating, the crafts and projects. I love buying and making gifts for my friends and family and I love receiving gifts too 😉 I also love Christmas baking! (Although I usually end up giving most of it away and my waistline usually thanks me!). A great way to celebrate the season with friends as well as get to enjoy some yummy treats is to host (or attend) a holiday cookie exchange. How does that work? Have everyone participating bake up some of their favorite holiday treats (if you have a list it can prevent everyone from bringing the same thing). Pre-package and bring to event, and at the end of the evening you walk away with several different types of holiday treats (hopefully with some recipes attached). The numbers depend on how many people are attending. For example, the cookie exchange I’m going to on the weekend, we are each bringing 10doz (1doz in each for a total of 10 treat bags).

And now here’s what I decided to make for the cookie exchange. 🙂
